That is what Kate is doing a lot of these days – walking and talking. She now prefers to get from place to place by walking instead of crawling. She walks so much she wears herself out so quickly! She is saying more and more words everyday and sometimes she will even put a few words together and make a whole sentence. I was standing in front of the refrigerator the other day getting things out of it to make our lunch and she looked at me and said, “I’m hummy.” I was shocked! Then another day, Kate was eating and James kept getting right up in her face and she would put her hand up to block him and push him away. He kept doing this and she looked at him and said, “Stay way.” She sure knows how to get her point across! Some other things that Kate has started to say recently:
*Peek-boo
*inkle (twinkle – when we sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star she will open and close her hand as well. She can also put her two pointer fingers together and her thumbs together to make a diamond.)
*Poppop (for popcorn popping)
*Grammy (she just started calling my mom grammy during her last visit)
*She will make a “Ssssssssssssssss” sound when you ask her what a snake says and when you ask her what a chicken says she replies, “ba ba”. James and I have told her a chicken says, “bock, bock”.
*She will beat her chest with her fists when you ask her what a gorilla does and will roar when asked what a lion says.
*Cheese
We love watching her learn new things everyday! It is so fun to know that she understands what we are telling her and that she can communicate with us in ways other than crying.
