ONE!

Happy Birthday, sweet Kate! We can’t believe that one year ago today you came into our lives and changed them for the better. We love your curiosity and sweet gentle spirit. You amaze us each and every day with your growth and development. We can’t wait to see what you learn in the next year!

For your birthday, you were so blessed to have both of your Grandma’s at your party! Grandma Ruth came from Colorado Grandma Kay drove down from Cleveland. Your friend, Charlotte, also came with her mommy, Jessica. We had a nice time despite the fact that you had a slight fever. For lunch we had pizza from Costco – your favorite! After lunch we opened presents and were you ever spoiled! You got lots and lots of books, some cute outfits, a water bottle, wonder color markers and paper, a squishy ball, foam letters/numbers for the bathtub, and an inchworm. Charlotte helped you open your gifts since you had so many.

After the presents were all opened, we had some delicious cupcakes. Your favorite story right now is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle – you pick it out every night for us to read to you before bedtime. Since this is your favorite story, we made some of your cupcakes into the very hungry caterpillar. You loved us singing to you, but didn’t quite understand how to blow out your candles! When we gave you your cupcake you promptly smashed it into your hands and didn’t know what to do with it. Once I held some up to your mouth, you took a bite and loved it!

Then, it was nap time. Your party wore you out. You took a two hour long nap. When you woke up, we had dinner and then took you to the park to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. Once we got back home, our landlord, Lloyd, stopped by to give you a birthday gift! We were touched that he remembered.
